The CBEST Foundation is setup with an ambitious goal of screening every school child in the communities where we operate and providing free glasses and other low-vision devices to support their learning!
There is a big need for school vision screening and then glasses in South Africa. Recent studies have shown that anywhere between 13.5%-27% of school learners have uncorrected refractive errors. In the majority of cases, a simple pair of single vision glasses of R399 ($23) can restore the student’s vision… and so much more than just vision!
Our foundation’s work is funded through donations and through a share of the profits of the CBEST network of stores. We have a signed MoU with the Gauteng Province, allowing us to conduct school screenings. We would be very grateful for any support to help us extend our school screening work and to restore the possibilities of so many children!
